Woman dead after crash in southwest Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -- An elderly woman was killed following a crash in southwest Bakersfield on Wednesday.

The crash happened around 2 in the afternoon on Planz Road and Stine Road, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

The investigation showed the woman's van was headed northbound on Stine when she lost control for unknown reasons and struck a traffic light.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the woman had suffered major injuries during the crash. She was transported to a hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Police said there was an uninjured passenger in the van.
