Orange County mother of 7 convicted of motel robbery-killing
SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) A mother of seven has been convicted for the robbery-murder of a man she lured to an Orange County motel room.
The Orange County Register says 52-year-old Leticia Carrasco of Buena Park was found guilty Thursday. She faces a potential sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
Her son, Noel Carrasco, will be tried separately.
Prosecutors say Leticia Carrasco met Matias Vazquez at a bar in December 2008 and lured him to a motel room where her son demanded his money. When he refused, authorities say the son stabbed, beat and strangled him.
Authorities say the Carrascos dumped the body in the desert on the way to Las Vegas, where they were later arrested.
The defense argued that Leticia Carrasco didn't plan the killing and tried to prevent it.
