Police: Five arrested for DUI at latest checkpoint

Police officers arrested seven people at a DUI checkpoint Saturday night.

Five people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. One was arrested for public intoxication. Another was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Police say 28 drivers were cited for not having a license or for driving with a suspended license.

Officers screened 1,123 vehicles at the 8600 block of Hageman Road between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. Sunday.

Funding for the checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.

Drivers are encouraged to keep roadways safe by calling 911 to report suspected impaired drivers.
