The work is organized by Flood Ministries, assisting the homeless who are medically vulnerable or physically disabled.
Arthur Misaner was homeless for over 20 years.
"It's a daily struggle, never knowing where your next meal is going to come from," said Misaner, "never knowing where your next penny is going to come from."
Misaner was referred to Home First and Flood Ministries by BPD.
Foot patrol officers, such as Scott Lazenby, who used to stop him in the streets, are now stopping by Misaner's house.
"It's always gratifying to see that we're able to help somebody in a good way," said Lazenby.
Lazenby and other BPD members started referring homeless to Home First in January.
Misaner is the first BPD referral to qualify and move into a home.
"I cried when I got it, I cried like a little baby more than once," said Misaner. "Things are starting to look up."
He said if you're homeless and medically vulnerable or physically disabled, speak to a BPD officer. You may qualify.
"It can be done, I'm living proof," Misaner said.
