Powerball frenzy: 3 winning tickets

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - There was a mad rush at Powerball retailers across the country Wednesday as the jackpot hit $448 million, the third-highest jackpot in history.

Bakersfield residents taking part in the frenzy were hoping to improve their financial futures.

"This is the first time in a long time that I've bought lottery tickets, and with the jackpot over $400 million, it's worth a try," said Bryan Colebrook.

Kalie Clifton, 18, said it's her first time ever buying a lottery ticket.

"My mom told me to come in, she's, like, go buy it. It's for, like, $400 million or something," said Clifton.

Even without the odds against them, everyone has plans if they strike it rich.

"I'd take the money and invest it in some other things and buy as much property as I possibly could," Colebrook said.

Powerball officials said late Wednesday night that there were three winning tickets in the $448 million jackpot. One ticket was sold in Minnesota and two in New Jersey. The winning numbers were 05, 25, 30, 58, 59 and Powerball 32.
