Report: Almost all of Kern County out of all drought levels
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
The weekly update from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows continued improvements to Kern County's dryness levels.
The update released Thursday shows only a small portion of western Kern County in the "moderate drought" level. The rest of Kern County is either classified as "abnormally dry" or doesn't have a drought classification at all.
Bakersfield officially came out of the drought last week, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. Eyewitness News Chief Meteorologist Miles Muzio said Bakersfield had been in drought conditions since the end of 2011.
