"It kind of makes me happy, just seeing that the kids are happy knowing that they aren't able to be at home with their families," said Bakersfield Sharks player McKinley Womack.
Santa and the players distributed toys, donuts and live music for patients in the Lauren Small Children's Medical Center.
Laura Bowling, a parent, appreciated the kind gesture.
"It's really nice. It's great to have that support and it's just very, very thoughtful," Bowling said.
Louie Strusis had been anticipating Wednesday's event.
"Just being around the children, they love football players, what better time to do it than now," Strusis said.
This is the second consecutive year the Bakersfield Sharks have participated in the event.
