On Friday in Visalia, 20-year-old Talia Vasquez of Patterson was sentenced to 5 years in state prison for human trafficking.

The sentence was handed down after Vasquez pled no contest to a felony count of human trafficking of a minor for a sex act on May 30th.

Another person involved, Lewis Shaw, also pled no contest as an accessory and will be sentenced on July 14th.

The minor involved in the case ran away from her home in Stanislaus County and traveled to Visalia.

The girl believed Vasquez was her friend, who told her she a good job giving massages to men in a motel and would let her work with her.

Photographs taken of the victim allowed Visalia police to track her to a motel in the city.

Police went to the motel and found the girl with Vasquez and Shaw.

Evidence in the room showed the two intended to have the girl have sex with others for money.

After Vasquez serves her prison sentence, she will be required to register as a sex offender.
