David Medina, 46, allegedly fired several rounds from a handgun through his closed bedroom door before deputies arrived. Deputies made contact with him around 1:45 a.m. Monday, but Medina refused to come out of his home on the 700 block of Lomita Trail until 6:15 a.m., the sheriff's office said.
He reportedly stayed holed up in a bedroom with his wife and multiple kids.
In the interim, the SWAT team was called and several nearby homes were evacuated.
Medina was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of an unregistered handgun, being a felon in possession of ammunition and discharging a firearm in a grossly negligent manner.
