Some Kern County cooling centers open Friday

An excessive heat warning has been issued in Kern County, opening some of the county’s cooling centers.

Here are the open cooling centers for Friday, Sept. 1.

Arvin

Arvin Community Center, 800 Walnut Drive

Bakersfield

East Bakersfield Veterans Building, 2101 Ridge Road

East Niles Senior Center, 6601 E. Niles St.

The Mission at Kern County. 816 E. 21st St.

Shafter

Walker Senior Center, 505 Sunset Ave.

Taft

Taft Veterans Building, 213 Taylor St.

Cooling centers are open from 1-8 p.m. Water and snacks will be provided.
