Southeast Bakersfield crash injures two, including officer

A police officer and the passenger of another car were injured Saturday evening in southeast Bakersfield.

According to police, the officer was merging into southbound traffic on Cottonwood Road near Bradshaw Street. The officer said he did not see the other car when they crashed.

Both the officer's and passenger's injuries were minor. The passenger was taken to a hospital with some pain.

The intersection of Cottonwood Road and Bradshaw Street was closed for a short time.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the crash.
