He brought with him a message of empowerment against bullying.
"Sometimes people treat other people mean, because they've been treated mean themselves," West said to students.
West's music video, "Never Ever" has over 100,000 YouTube views. It spreads the message that sometimes not participating in bullying isn't enough.
"When I was in school, I wasn't a bully," said West, "I didn't get bullied, but I was one of the bystanders."
West has been traveling the nation with his message for several years, but he believes his work is only a start.
"I think we're already seeing some changes, mixed with what the schools are already doing," said West. "So I don't think me just coming in, doing an assembly. I don't think that's going to make a difference."
Difference or not, West left an impression on at least one student.
"It taught me to stand up when I see bullying happening," said Esteban Mendez, a sixth grader.
