Surveillance video, police radio chatter provide new details in shooting at Heart Hospital
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
Police on Monday continued their investigation into what led a man to fire a gun Friday at the Bakersfield Heart Hospital.
Brandon Clark, 44, was ultimately shot by officers Felipe Juarez and James Montgomery shortly after he exited the hospital.
Surveillance video captured Clark, a resident of Big Sur, firing a gun at an employee entrance to the hospital and splintering the glass. He then hurled himself at the compromised door, shattering what remained, and crawled through carrying a rifle.
Witnesses told Eyewitness News that he told people he wasn't there to shoot them. Police are still investigating what his motive was.
After two minutes wandering the hospital, Clark left the same way he came in and was shot by police who confronted him outside. He survived the shots and Monday was said to be in critical condition.
