Oildale welcomes new sign
If you are driving through Oildale, you might notice something different.
There is a new sign welcoming visitors and residents. The sign is located on North Chester near Beardsley Avenue.
The sign is apart of Oildale's 20-year vision.
Several people have been drawn to the new sign, including Tasha Leopo.
"I wanted to come see it," said Leopo. "I take pictures. That is what I love to do, and needed to come take pictures of the Oildale sign."
Anne Stephens owns Kern River Power Equipment right cross from the new sign. She has been here for 20 years and has seen Oildale's evolution.
"That sign is cool, that sign is really classy. It really puts the icing on the cake," said Stephens.
Around the corner from the new sign, we found Daniel Lee, associate pastor at Church Without Walls.
"I remember the violence and hatred that use to be the hallmarks of this community, and I thought finally somebody has replaced that sign with something different," said Lee.
