Two arrested after body found during traffic stop
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
The Kern County Sheriff's Office has arrested two men on suspicion of murder after a dead person was found in the stolen car they were driving.
A California Highway Patrol officer conducted a routine traffic stop Tuesday for speeding on Highway 65 at James Road, according to the Sheriff's Office. The officer discovered the SUV had been reported as stolen out of Los Angeles County, and there was a dead male passenger inside.
Two others from the vehicle were detained.
Wednesday, the Sheriff's Office announced 24-year-old Ben Barness and 39-year-old Manpreet Sidhu, both of Los Angeles, were booked into jail on suspicion of murder, conspiracy and possession of a stolen vehicle.
