Fresno detectives asking for help solving school principal's murder

UPDATED: Thursday, December 21, 2017 - The Fresno County Sheriff's homicide detectives are asking for help solving a double homicide in Fresno.

Detectives are asking residents and business owners to contact them if they have any surveillance video recorded between Saturday, December 9th and Monday, December 11th.

Detectives are focused on streets surrounding the area where the crime took place, which includes cameras facing streets in the following locations...

  • Palm Avenue (between Bullard Avenue and Sierra Avenue)
  • Sierra Avenue (between Palm Avenue and Maroa Avenue)
  • Maroa Avenue (between Sierra Avenue and Bullard Avenue)
  • Bullard Avenue (between Palm Avenue and Maroa Avenue)


If you have video of this area during this time, please contact sheriff’s dispatchers at (559) 600-3111 and they will send a member from the office to meet you so they can collect and/or review the footage.

Updated: Tuesday, December 12, 2017 - The Fresno County Sheriff's Office says the two women found dead on Monday are victims of a double homicide.

The women have been identified as 55-year-old Jennifer DuPras and her 88-year-old mother, Cynthia Houk.

Detectives have questioned DuPras' estranged husband and searched his Kingsburg home, but have not found anything to connect him with the murders.

Detectives are continuing to collect evidence, talk to potential witnesses and follow up on numerous leads.

Update: The Kingsburg Elementary Charter School District posted an update on Facebook Tuesday afternoon, announcing one of the victims was Jennifer DuPras, a former principal of Washington Elementary School.


The Fresno County Sheriff's Office says the original caller was concerned because the person had missed an appointment on Monday and could not be reached.

Deputies responded to the home and found everything to be secure.

Deputies talked to a neighbor who said they had a key and let the deputies inside to check it out.

Once inside, deputies found the two victims and requested homicide detectives to start an investigation.

No motive has been determined and no suspects have been contacted.

Investigators are not releasing the names of the victims or the cause of death at this time.

Monday, December 11, 2017 - Two people were found dead in a home and the Fresno County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies got a call requesting a welfare check on N. Colonial Ave. around 3:30 p.m. on Monday.

When the first deputy arrived he went inside and found the two victims.
