Vigil held for Stockdale High School students killed in crash on Interstate 5

Friends and family members are holding a vigil at Stockdale High School in Bakersfield, Calif., on Friday, June 8, 2018, for a pair of teens who were killed in a crash on Interstate 5 last weekend.

Family and friends gathered to remember two Stockdale High School students who were killed in a crash on Interstate 5 last weekend.

Friends were there to remember the lives of 15-year-old Sidney Chang, a freshman at Stockdale High, and 18-year-old, Amal Shurbaji, a recent graduate of Stockdale High.

The California Highway Patrol said the two were in a car with two others, when an unknown gray vehicle changed lanes in front of them.

The driver took evasive action which resulted in them losing control of their vehicle. The vehicle then went off the roadway.

All four inside were taken to the hospital where Chang and Shurbaji were later pronounced dead.
