Woman stuck in Kern River Canyon overnight

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A woman has been rescued from the Kern River Canyon.

County fire officials say the 48-year-old woman, along with two others, walked down the canyon at about 8:30 Wednesday night. Just after 4 a.m. Thursday, a call went in to officials saying she was stuck at the bottom of the canyon.

The woman was not hurt, but she was fatigued. She was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The rescue took about two hours and forced the temporary closure of the east end of Highway 178.
