A worker's hand was crushed Wednesday morning by a machine that turns minerals into a fine powder.

Capt. Jason Knaggs of the Kern County Fire Department wouldn't name the business located off 7th Standard Road, but he said it makes powered minerals that are applied to farmland.

The man's hand got stuck between two rollers in the machine. The Fire Department said the man received emergency medical care while the machine was disassembled, so the worker could be freed.
