TROY, Ohio (WKRC) - A routine traffic stop turned into an embarrassing scene for a Miami County deputy on Saturday morning.

Video obtained by WHIO shows the officer forgot to put his car in park when he got out to conduct the traffic stop. His cruiser slowly starts rolling backward and into the street, making its way across the yellow lines and into an intersection.

The officer notices the car rolling away after nearly 30 seconds and is able to run it down and regain control before it ran into any other cars or objects.

Miami County Sheriff Dave Duchak released a statement about the incident, stating "Although, as a professional office we strive for precision in such matters, I also recognize that human error may occur. I'm thankful that the deputy was able to get the situation under control without injury to persons or property."
