October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Kern High School District is doing its part to bring attention to the issue.

Friday night, all of the district's varsity football players will wear stickers on their helmets that have a pink ribbon, the symbol of breast cancer awareness, along with the initials "SK" to honor Shauna Kerr, the wife of Eyewitness News sports anchor Greg Kerr.

Shauna recently lost her battle with cancer.

A scholarship fund is also set up in her name at Wasco High School, where Shauna attended and was the Rose Queen.
