Memorial flag raised in Bakersfield for Child Abuse Prevention Month

Six Kern County children died as a result of abuse last year. Friday morning, the community took time to remember their lives.

A memorial flag was raised in front of the Human Services Building as part of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

County officials say a community effort is needed to stop child abuse.

More Child Abuse Prevention Month events in Kern County:

  • The Kern County Network for Children is hosting a conference, which is already full, called See Poverty…Be The Difference.
  • On the final Sunday in April, local churches are being asked to recognize Blue Sunday, a day of prayer for the victims and the people who rescue them.
