The family identified a little boy who was shot and killed Friday night as 3-year-old Major Sutton.

He, his brother and his mother were shot around 11:50 p.m. on the 800 block of Pershing Street. The family identified the mother as Johniece Williams and Major's brother as 5-year-old King Smith.

Family members said Williams is six months pregnant. She's still in the hospital, and she and her unborn child are expected to survive.

King underwent surgery at the hospital earlier on Saturday, according to the family. He is currently out of the hospital.

Family members said an unknown person kicked in their door and opened fire.

“These senseless acts of gun violence where innocent lives are lost are unacceptable in our community. This marks the third such incident in 2017 where the life of a child was taken or put in immediate danger at the hands of a coldblooded killer. We will continue to pursue all leads and thoroughly investigate each case until we can bring the offenders to justice. As a community, we need to stand together in times of tragedy and work with one another to seek justice for the victims and their families,” said Police Chief Lyle Martin in a press release.

Police don't have information on a suspect or possible motive at this time.

Anyone with information helpful to the investigation is asked to call Detective Jeff Paglia at (661) 326-3556.
