BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -- A man has died after a crash Sunday morning in south Bakersfield.

He was hit by a driver apparently under the influence of alcohol, according to police.

Officers say the driver and passenger of a silver sedan headed east on Taft Highway swerved into the opposite lanes, hitting a black pickup truck head-on.

The sedan driver and their passenger were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor for the driver of the pickup.

Taft Highway between Stine Road and Ashe Road was closed during an investigation into the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111.
