Alta Sierra Ski Resort reports 10 inches of overnight snow
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – Alta Sierra Ski Resort, in the mountains west of Lake Isabella, reports getting 10 inches of snow overnight.
The resort remains closed, but owners told Eyewitness News this week that they expect enough winter weather to support a busy season.
"And all the forecasts, all the experts out there that give us information are telling us it's going to be a good winter and a long winter,” co-owner John Pavletich said. “So those two things combined really have our hopes really high."
The resort only opened two days last season. Pavletich said they’re hopeful for a snowy winter and more days of skiing this year.
Alta Sierra is hosting a job fair 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 8 at the resort, 56700 Rancheria Road. The resort is looking to hire as many as 50 people.
“It’s a big employment opportunity when the season’s going,” Pavletich said. "We're real optimistic for this year being the year."
