A former Kern County deputy took a plea deal Tuesday for his role in a deadly 2014 crash.

Nicholas Clerico crashed into 72-year-old Nancy Garrett at North Chester Avenue and China Grade Loop.

Clerico was going 85 mph with his lights and sirens activated through a red light. He was responding to a call about a bar fight.

Garrett was going about 40 mph through the intersection when her car was broadsided.

Clerico's attorney, Kyle Humphrey, said his client will be sentenced to three years probation, a fine and 240 hours of community service after pleading no contest to vehicular manslaughter.
