Bakersfield City Council approves budget amendments

The Bakersfield City Council on Wednesday gave approval to three topics pertaining to safety concerns.

The first was an agreement between the city manager and the Bakersfield Bicyclist and Pedestrian Safety Plan, which identifies areas of improvement for bicycle lanes throughout Bakersfield.

The remaining cost to upgrade water wells contaminated with toxic chemical TCP and a grant for the ShotSpotter were also approved.

The grant will pay for the first two years of the ShotSpotter technology.

Earlier this year, the council approved the installation of ShotSpotter, technology that pinpoints gunfire within meters and seconds of where it came from.
