The Bakersfield City Council on Wednesday night approved adding a crosswalk as part of the 24th Street widening project.

The pedestrian crossing will go in at Pine Street.

In October, the city decided to remove crosswalks at Drake and A streets as part of the project.

Some residents have been vocal in their desire to have a place to walk across 24th Street. Meanwhile, officials with the Public Works Department have expressed concern that 24th is too busy and too dangerous for pedestrian crossings.
