Bakersfield police say wanted gang member was arrested

Jarvis Thomas, who was an outstanding suspect in a large gang crackdown, is seen in a photo released Dec. 12, 2017, by the Bakersfield Police Department. Thomas was arrested Jan. 2, 2018.

One of three men wanted following a large crackdown on gang activity was apprehended.

Jarvis Thomas was arrested Tuesday, Bakersfield Police Sgt. Ryan Kroeker said.

Thomas was an outstanding suspect following a multiagency gang sweep in mid-December. Two other men, Tommie Thomas and Michael Holmes, remain on the loose.

Dozens were arrested in the months-long investigation that culminated with the sweep targeting the West Side Crips -- its members and associates. Some of those arrested face state charges, some face federal charges and a few face both.

Thomas was arrested on suspicion of drug dealing, conspiracy and taking part in a gang. He's since bailed out of jail.
