BFD sets Christmas trees on fire to remind people of holiday dangers
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) —
The Bakersfield Fire Department on Tuesday set a pair of Christmas trees on fire to try and keep you safe.
The demonstrations came with a warning about how a dry, improperly maintained tree can easily burst into flames. Pacific Gas and Electric Co. was also on hand to warn people against using hotter traditional incandescent light bulbs or overloaded electrical circuits.
The Fire Department said every year there are a couple hundred fires across the country caused by Christmas trees that aren't properly maintained.
