BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/FOX58) — A man was killed overnight after he was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle on Oak Street, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Just after midnight, officers responded to the area of Oak Street and 21st Street and found a man down in the road with major injuries. He was transported to Kern Medical where he died.
The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with officers. He showed no signs of impairment and speed was not a factor in the crash.
Police are still investigating.
The identity of the man will be released at a later time by the Kern County Coroner's Office.
