Body found near school, hospital in Bakersfield

His cause of death hasn't been determined.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -- A body was found early Wednesday morning in east Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

The body was reported to the Sheriff's Office just before 1 a.m.

The Sheriff's Office described the location as "on the west side of" East High School.

Kern High School District spokeswoman Lisa Krch emphasized to Eyewitness News that she doesn't believe this had any connection to the school.

The Sheriff's Office said there were no obvious signs of trauma, and the detectives believe the man was dead for a "period of time" when the body was discovered.

The Sheriff's Office also said there are indications the person died elsewhere and was then left at that location.

Anyone with information helpful to the investigation is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (661) 861-3110 or the Secret Witness hotline at 322-4040.
