BPD: man breaks into house with hatchet, attacks woman while she showers

Bakersfield, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — On Friday afternoon, a woman in southwest Bakersfield was showering when an intruder broke into her home.

Kyle Kuehl, 59, was arrested after police say he forced entry into a strangers home while armed with a hatchet.

Kuehl allegedly went into the woman's bathroom while she was showering and attacked her. While the two were fighting, a male relative of the woman got home and was able to physically detain Kuehl.

The woman suffered a non-life-threatening injury.

Kuehl was arrested fo attempted rape during a burglary offense, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and first degree burglary.
