Police said a man surrendered Monday morning for his admitted involvement in a deadly hit-and-run collision.

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle around midnight on Golden State Avenue near Chester Avenue. He was identified by the Kern County coroner's office as 25-year-old Gabriel Jesus Hidalgo.

The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and walking in the eastbound lanes, police said.

Ryan Forden, 41, later called police to tell them he was the hit-and-run driver. Officers met with Forden, seized evidence and arrested him.
