BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – Police are on the hunt for a man suspected of shooting and killing a woman Tuesday night in northwest Bakersfield.

Carlos Garcia Jr., 24, is wanted on a warrant for murder, police said Wednesday morning.

Officers were sent to a home on Abbott Drive, near Hageman Road and Calloway Drive, where they found a woman who had been shot. The woman later died at a hospital.

Friends on Wednesday identified the victim as 24-year-old Alyson Muniz and said Garcia was her on-and-off boyfriend. She leaves behind four young children, they said.

Officers on scene Tuesday night said they believe the two argued before the shooting, but police didn't say what ignited the argument.

Anyone who knows of Garcia’s location is asked to call police at (661) 327-7111.
