UPDATE: The Bakersfield Fire Department said Friday morning that this fire, which erupted Thursday afternoon, was kept to about 100 acres before being fully contained.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters are attacking a brush fire on the bluffs, in the area of Haley Street and Panorama Drive.

Nearby Bakersfield College says it's closing its campus because of smoke. John Frando, administrative battalion chief with the Bakersfield Fire Department, says a person at a bus stop was treated for smoke inhalation.

Frando says the fire is burning in roughly 100 acres of grass, and they’ve pretty much controlled the western flank.
