Kidnapping not real, two people who grabbed boy in video were friends

A still image taken from surveillance video posted Nov. 15, 2017, on Facebook by the Delano Police Department shows what appeared to be a kidnapping but was really a simulated kidnapping among friends.

UPDATE: The Delano Police Department said the apparent kidnapping caught on video was not real.

In a Facebook post, the department said the two people who appeared to grab the "victim" were in fact friends who were just simulating a kidnapping.

A third party was the one who reported the information to the police.

All parties who were involved have been contacted and have been found safe.

No charges have been filed.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -- The Delano Police Department is investigating a possible kidnapping on Wednesday.

A video was posted on the DPD Facebook page that shows what appears to be a kidnapping.

The event happened on the 1400 block of Cecil Avenue.

In the video, a pair of people could be seen pulling up alongside a male juvenile in a van and then grabbing the boy and driving off.

The boy has not been identified, but authorities believe he might go to Delano High School or Cecil Avenue Middle School.
