CDCR: Inmate repeatedly stabs officer at Tehachapi prison

An inmate attacked an officer Tuesday at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Inmate Agustin Garcia allegedly threw a cup of hot water in the officer's face and then repeatedly stabbed him with a weapon he made.

Staff and a couple inmates helped stop the attack.

The officer, whose name was withheld, suffered stab wounds to his shoulder, neck and head. The inmate suffered a fractured skull and broken eye orbital.

Garcia has been serving time in prison since 2001 for attempted murder of a peace officer in Kings County.
