UPDATE: The Kern County coroner's office on Aug. 30 identified the motorcycle rider as 46-year-old Frank Richards.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -- A woman was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs after crashing into a motorcycle rider, killing the rider.

The California Highway Patrol said 24-year-old Aldaz Thalia was driving on Union Avenue near Adams Street when she turned, hit a raised curb in the median and careened into the path of the motorcycle.

The rider was thrown from the bike and later died at the hospital.

The CHP said Thalia and her passenger, 50-year-old Jesus Ramos, tried to flee, but Thalia was later caught and arrested.
