The condom snorting challenge is a dangerous challenge attracting teens.

The challenge involves a person snorting a condom up their nose and watching it come out of their mouth.

This challenge is one of many challenges which have gone viral among adolescents.

Health experts tell Eyewitness News these types of challenges have been around for years. But, with the advent of social media, more and more teens are doing them, and they're becoming more apparent.

"When you are a kid, you need your parents love and support because that is your life, then you start to pull away and attach to your peer groups and that becomes your most important connections in your life," said Jason Giffard, Behavioral Health Supervisor.

Teens are more inclined to partake in these challenges because their brains are not fully developed.

"As a teenager, because your frontal lobe is not developed, it's really hard for them to think long term. For us, as an adult we are able to think years down the road. When you're a kid, you're thinking minutes down the road, so it's those impulsive actions to seek instant gratification that put teens at risk for those sort of things," said Giffard.

Giffard says the best way for a parent to find out if their teen is participating in these challenges is to be more open and interested in their daily lives, while also monitoring their social media.

"You monitor what your kids are watching on TV, who they hang out with, where they go, social media is just an extension of that," said Giffard.
