County to host first Hart Park After Dark event next weekend

Community members are invited to attend the first Hart Park After Dark event on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Hart Park.

The free, family-friendly event will take place from 5-8 p.m. and will highlight the importance of parks and county departments.

Activities will include:

  • Bookmark & Spider Hat Crafts, with the Kern County Library
  • Photo Opportunities, with Roaming Reptiles, Omnipresent Puppet Theater, Magician Christopher Lopez, & Kern County Fire Trucks
  • Live Music, with DJ The Phantom Stranger and band Heavy Vinyl
  • Camo-Face Painting & Pull Up Bar, with Kern County Veterans Services
  • Rock Painting, with Kern County Department of Human Services
  • Spay / Neuter Vouchers, with Kern County Animal Services
  • Shooting for the Stars: Photo Booth with Props & Corn Hole, with Kern County Human Resources
  • Food Vendors, including cotton candy, Brazilian Hot Dog, & La Rosa Fruit Bars
  • FREE Drawings for prizes, books, & more!

Additional timed activities will be featured, including:

  • Star Gazing at 7:15 p.m., with Kern County Astronomical Society
  • The PopUp Library Presents Spooky Stories for Families at 5:30 p.m.
  • The PopUp Library Presents Scary Stories for Young Adults at 7:30 p.m.
  • Bike Ride with Bike Bakersfield, Bike Riders meet at 6:30 p.m. and must have their own gear.
  • Night Hike with the Kern County Library, Hikers meet at 6 p.m. and the hike will be through flat land.
