CSUB to host LGBTQ+ PRIDE Week

California State University, Bakersfield says it will demonstrate its commitment to being an accepting and inviting environment by celebrating Pride Week from Oct. 9-19.

Lead by CSUB’s LGBTQ+ PRIDE -- Promoting Resources, Inclusion, and Diversity in Education -- Affinity Group, the event seeks to foster a welcoming, respectful and inclusive campus community.

Events will include:

  • Monday, Oct. 9 – LGBTQ+ Kickoff and Resource Fair from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Red Brick Road.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 10 – Meet & Greet Mixer & Social from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Stockdale Room.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 11 – Ally Rally: “What it Means to be an Ally for the LGBTQ+ Community” at 6 p.m. in the Stockdale Room.
  • Thursday, Oct. 12 – Expression Nights: “Coming Out Stories” at 7 p.m. in the Stockdale Room.
  • Friday, Oct. 13 – Movie Night: “Hocus Pocus” at 7 p.m. in Alumni Park.
  • Thursday, Oct. 19 – Pride Volleyball game at 7 p.m. at Icardo Center

“LGBTQ+ Pride is more than just a celebration, but remembering our history. It is about knowing the hardships that have come before and looking to where we need to go. It is about the hope that things get better and will continue to get better,” LGBTQ+ PRIDE Co-Chair Matthew McCelellan said in a new release.
