The Drug Enforcement Administration on Friday broke its silence on a shooting involving one of its agents.

The DEA confirmed an agent shot the suspect during an enforcement operation Thursday near the Lowe's Home Improvement in south Bakersfield.

Special Agent Casey Rettig, a public information officer, went on to say via email:

"DEA will fully cooperate with the Bakersfield Police Department in their investigation. Additional details will be provided as information becomes available."
