Students missing school because they don’t have clean clothes has been an ongoing problem at Fremont Elementary School in Delano.

But thanks to Urner’s appliance store, the school now has a new commercial washer and dryer at the school.

“We have a small group of parent volunteers that will be working one day out of the month, each of them, on a rotating basis, so one day a week,” Fremont Principal Teresa Cushnyr said. “So, students can bring their uniforms to school, drop them off in the morning; we’ll get them laundered for them and they can take them home at the end of the day.”

Urner’s donated the appliances. Fremont is the first school in Delano to offer this service.
