BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man was injured Sunday morning in a crash involving two vehicles in downtown Bakersfield.

Police said a black SUV was traveling southbound in the northbound lane on L Street approaching 23rd Street when the driver crashed into a black pickup truck in the northbound lane.

The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the pickup suffered only minor injuries.

After further investigation, police believe the driver of the SUV may have suffered a medical event prior to the collision.
