Coroner: Drugs were a contributing factor in attorney Benjamin Greene's death

The Kern County coroner on Friday released information on what killed an attorney who ran in a 5K this summer during extreme heat.

Benjamin Greene collapsed during the run at Hart Memorial Park and later died at the hospital.

The coroner has ruled Greene's death accidental from cardiovascular disease, with contributing factors of methamphetamine and phentermine intoxication.

The heat was not mentioned in the coroner's news release.
