Evacuations ordered ahead of storm for some areas devastated by mudslides
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities have issued evacuation orders for some areas devastated by January's deadly mudslides because of another storm expected to hit coastal Southern California.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office said Monday that a mandatory evacuation order is in effect for foothill neighborhoods in and around Montecito, Summerland and Carpinteria that are at high risk for loss of life and property. Officials want everyone out by 8 p.m.

A recommended evacuation warning is in effect for a wider area. Residents in that zone aren't under orders to leave, but are at risk for flooding or being cut off from services.
Authorities say a storm coming Tuesday is expected to bring rain heavy enough to potentially cause mudslides in the fire-scarred area where debris flows killed more than 20 people earlier this year.
