The sibling pair was walking home on the sidewalk along Panama Lane, near South H Street, when they were allegedly hit and killed by Core, who was under the influence.
This incident would be Core's fourth DUI.

Matt Clark from Chain Cohn Stiles said, "In the DUI cases that I have been involved in, it is rare that an injury or a death DUI crash occurs that it's the persons first attempt. It's almost always the second, third, the fourth, or the fifth."
Clark also said the punishment for DUI crashes is not enough in Kern County. "We are one of the rare states where you can charge someone who kills someone in a DUI accident with murder so we are doing some things right, but we need to raise those minimum sentencings."
But the Bakersfield Police Department said they hope their DUI enforcement stops will play a small part in helping fix the problem of DUI in our community.
