2 houses burn in central Bakersfield

UPDATE: A Bakersfield Fire Department news release Tuesday afternoon said one firefighter suffered minor burns to his hand during this incident.

The Fire Department also said the houses were being renovated, and there were no occupants.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – Two houses caught fire early Tuesday morning.

Bakersfield Fire Department Battalion Chief Matthew Perry said one house, which was vacant, was fully engulfed in fire when crews arrived. A second house, which was occupied, was partially on fire.

Everyone escaped the fire, and no injuries were reported.

Perry said the cause of the fires, on Forrest Street near Oleander Avenue, are under investigation.
