Dozens displaced after fire rips through Lamont apartments

Around 30 people were displaced Thursday night when fire tore through their apartments.

The fire was reported around 7 p.m. at the complex near San Diego Street and Hall Road.

Eight apartments were involved, with flames showing through the windows.

“When I opened the door, it was, everything was full of smoke,” said displaced resident Victoria Portillo.

Kern County firefighters haven't said what caused the fire.
